BEC Consultants staff have an authoritative level of experience in the statistical analysis of vegetation data using contemporary multivariate techniques such as clustering and ordination. We have developed national-scale classifications for woodlands and semi-natural grasslands as part of the National Survey of Native Woodlands in Ireland and the Irish Semi-natural Grasslands Survey. Collaboration with the National Biodiversity Data Centre is ongoing in the development of classifications for the uplands as part of the National Survey of Upland Habitats and for saltmarshes as part of the Saltmarsh Angiosperm Assessment Tool for Ireland (SMAATIE) project. It is intended that these endeavours will contribute to the development of an Irish Vegetation Classification.
