Client: Meath County Council
In 2017, BEC Consultants prepared a Natura Impact Screening Statement for the proposed upgrade to Kentstown wastewater treatment plant, Co. Meath. The plant was operating beyond its design specifications and an upgrade was required to address storm overflow issues and meet the plant’s licenced Emission Limit Values (ELVs). The macroinvertebrate community of the River Nanny, into which the plant discharges, was assessed by means of kick samples, while a desktop study collected information on the Natura 2000 sites in the vicinity of the site. The upgrade works went ahead in 2018.
