Between 2019 and 2021, BEC Consultants prepared a number of Biodiversity Action Plans for various community groups. Funds for these Action Plans were provided through the Environment and Nature Fund administered by Community Foundation Ireland.  Plans were tailored to suit the needs of the different groups and the areas covered by each of the plans. One of the great natural features of Navan, Co. Meath are the rivers, and a plan was prepared covering the town. Actions included erecting swift boxes, planting a community hedge and providing information about measures to prevent pollution of the rivers in the town. In contrast, the area for the Action Plan for Omeath, Co. Louth extended from Carlingford Lough up to the mountains behind the town. The Griffeen Stream, which flows through Vesy Park and Lucan Village Co. Dublin, was the focus for Lucan Tidy Towns’ Action Plan. Actions included surveys for otters and dippers, with provision to be made for these animals. In Skerries, an Action Plan for the Large Carder Bee was developed, building on the survey work carried out by some of the members of Sustainable Skerries. These Action Plans, together with many other similar plans, are available at www.actionforbiodiversity.ie.
